Radical '80s 5k/10K Run


When does the event take place?

This year our event will take place on August 10th, 2019. Both distances will begin at the same time, 9:00 am. The course will be marked to identify which distance is which and volunteers will be on course at each turn around to ensure that you don't miss a beat.

Where does the event take place?

Where can I find my running results, post race?

SVE Timing is our timing company of choice and results can be found here!

Where can I park and is it free?

You can park within the county park grounds, however there is a fee to do so. The fee will be posted at the entrance gate as it changes throughout the year and is collected by the park. The typical cost is approx. $5. You are free to park on any public street or space, just be sure to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of your race so that you have time to do so.

Do I get any cool stuff?

Each participant, regardless of distance, will receive an awesome unisex 80s themed t-shirt and finisher medal, which doubles as a bottle opener. Every year our participants also receive a bonus swag item, free of charge. Last year we gave out a totally awesome reusable totel bag, screen-printed with the same design as our tees. We're still tossing around ideas for 2019, but we can promise you that we won't disappoint. 

The shirts and medals will be totally awesome, giving off that true 80s vibe. You'll want to rock these tees day after day just because they're super cool; not like the typical running event tees (totally lame!). A lot of thought and hard work goes into our designs and we take a lot of pride in offering something that people will hopefully enjoy for days, long after the event.  We know you'll be posting your medal all over Instagram to show how awesome, hip and active you are all at the same time. Want more? Great! We will also host a raffle after the awards ceremony where participants can select from a number of awesome prizes. Total score!

Are there any awards?

Totally! We will be awarding the top 3 finishers for each distance, male and female. The award ceremony time is to be held shortly after the completion of both courses, normally by 10:15 am. We award our top three overall finishers for both male and female place-holders, for each division (12 in all).

Will there be any food?

Absolutely! We will offer fresh fruit, muffins, apple sauce, yogurt, croissants, cookies among other goodies. California summers are scorchers, especially in August, so we wanted to have something on site to quench your thirst and satisfy your sweet tooth. That being said, we're bringing in that iconic Kona Hawaiian Ice truck again for 2019. Kona Ice will be available for an additional, yet very reasonable fee. Prices begin at $3 per snow cone. We know you already want one. :)

Can I volunteer?

Yes, please do! We would love to have volunteers on course and on site to help with awards, medal & t-shirt distribution, aid station support and waste management. In return for your support, we are pleased to offer community service hours for school aged students and a discount to participate in next year's event. Interested participants can sign up via our "volunteer" link at top of the website.

Do  you offer refunds if I can't participate?

The cutoff date to receive a refund is July 20th, 2019. Beyond that date all sales are final. We can, however, defer your entry to following year's event should you not be able to participate.

Can we bring our dog to the event? How about strollers & wheelchairs?

Yes, dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash at all times. If your pet is temperamental around other dogs and or children, then we ask that you please leave them at home.
Strollers and wheelchairs are also more than welcome! The event takes place on a paved bike path, suitable for all wheeled units.
We do ask that you please be courtious to the other athletes and place yourselves, with your dog and or stroller, at the back of the pack to avoid injury or conflict.

When and where is packet pickup?

Packet pickup will be hosted by Sports Basement, located at the Campbell Pruneyard location at:

Packet pickup will be held on Friday, 8/09.
Pickup times are scheduled for: 4:30 - 8:00 PM.

Packet Pickup Discount Alert!

We highly encourage our athletes to attend the packet pickup. All athletes, along with their friends and family, can score 20% off of their purchase at Sports Basement, nothing is excluded! Simply present a Radical 80s bib to the sales associate at the register to obtain your discount.

Will there be same day packet pickup?

No, we will not offer same day packet pickup. We will, however, make exceptions for those registered and coming from out of town. Please email us at the address below to make arrangements.

I can't make packet pickup; can my friend or relative pickup for me?

Yes, but he or she must be accompanied by a copy of your ID card: photo, printed, cell phone screenshot, etc.
